DAVID SCHIFFMAN

CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

An experienced financial professional with proven success in portfolio management in fixed income securities in both the United States and international markets, David brings over thirty years of knowledge to his position as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at The Terra Fund. As CIO for Terra, his responsibilities include advice on fixed–income investments, which include money market funds, bonds and CDs. With an increasing number of individuals reaching retirement age, his role is critical to Terra, where he assists Terra by assessing their current financial situations through forecasting both the fixed income primary and secondary markets to advise the firm of price behavior in hedging portfolios.

David is a well–respected investment professional with a comprehensive background in fixed income portfolio management, trading and credit research since 1989. His direct experience in actively managing portfolios for insurance companies (Life, Reinsurance and P&C), pension funds, mutual funds and banks, includes asset liability matching (ALM), book yield/spread, total return maximization, strategic/tactical asset allocation and in–depth relative value analysis. He is also well versed in all aspects of each fixed income asset class, including corporate bonds, MBS/CMBS/ABS, tax–exempt municipals and US treasuries (including TIPs) with strong credentials in credit research, including investment grade, cross–over, high–yield, distressed and emerging market bonds.

At GRE Insurance Group, David was a Portfolio Manager responsible for US and Canadian corporate bonds, while supporting management of all fixed income assets for the Insurance Company. During his time at UBS International, he was a Risk Manager and Senior Compliance Officer, where he performed comprehensive risk analysis, including investments in bonds, stocks, mutual funds and hedge funds to determine suitability based upon risk tolerances and investment objectives.

With First Empire Asset Management, he was Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager where he co–managed institutional fixed income investments in various asset classes, with specific expertise in credit–sensitive sectors, including investment–grade, cross–over and high yield corporate bonds. At Foresters Investment Management, he was Director of Insurance Investing and responsible for the internal management of investment grade fixed income life insurance assets, including both the General and Surplus accounts for the Independent Order of Foresters ("IOF") and Foresters Life Insurance and Annuity Company ("FLIAC").

David obtained his Bachelor in the study of Economics and during his studies was the founding father of Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT) Fraternity at Binghamton University, he then went on to obtain his MBA in the field of Finance from Binghamton University School of Management. He is also affiliated with The Fixed Income Analysts Society based in New York and The Bond Club of New York, where they are both not–for–profit organizations dedicated to advancing education in finance and has Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7, 63, 65 licenses.
